I am finishing my first scrappy quilt - I didn't realize while putting it together that the colors didn't "go together" until I started sewing the blocks together, but since it's all put together, the more I look at it the more I like it.

I like the scrappy approach best. I've made totally planned and coordinated quilts, but they never interested me as much as pure scrappy.

That is a good, confident opinion Pat!!!

I do.. its the nature of my being.. I vote for the underdogs in any sports event. I am a fierce protector of those society wants to throw away. I am an advocate for using things that others throw away because they feel they are expendable.. And for scraps. Oh, they are more beautiful as they age, because each one tells, or will tell, a story .. . yep, I am a scrappy quilter... for sure!

This is really stunning! Do you know where I can get the pattern or was it an original?[/quote

I actually didn't use a pattern exactly, just went with a block idea. Now, after I made this, found one very similar in the little pattern book called "Strip Therapy" by Brenda Henning. It's called "Insomnia" in her book & the only difference would be matching up your blocks, the way I did, to make a bigger connecting block. Very simple, actually, just have to watch that you lay your blocks out correctly. The border, DH & I made up with the scraps from the blocks & the black added around them, to make them float! Hope this helps!

Yes, very helpful. Thank you. I think your border is the perfect finish to your quilt. Beautiful job!

I have about 3 different scrappy quilts in progress. I have one ready to quilt. I have 2 I need to finish sewing the blocks and borders to.
