No, it's based on the tube quilting technique. Hard to tell from my drawing I know, lol. This might be beyond my skill level but I'm going to give it a shot.

I do not understand how to access the pictures. I have tried looking under pictures, search topic and everything else I can think of.
Am I the only one who has trouble with this?
I am a senior citizen so computers are challenging.
Thanks for any help.

I download my pictures from the camera to my computer under My Pictures. When I write a comment there is a file attachment under the send button which says Browse. Click that and choose My Pictures, then the photo you want to download then click Open. when you see that it is there at Browse hit send and after a bit it will load. Not sure if this will help but worth a try.

dsb38327 this is a great idea, I love to look at quilty photos. Anything from a pic of fabrics to be used all the way to the finished product including any OOPS and how you solved them. I am getting ready to start quilting again after many years away from the craft, I am going to ask for a camera for my birthday in April then I will send in photos. Until then I look forward to seeing all of this groups pics. Happy quilting.

I would like to see more works in progress. One of the things I love about the Quilting Forum are the pictures that everyone puts on.

I would so much like to see the work in progress photos. I believe it is possible more members do not show the work in progress photos because they think few of us want to see them.

Who's in?
I will start:
dsb38327: Would like to see tons of work in progress photos.

Okay! Sister, I am working on my first Friendship Star block:) Here is my work in progress and my finished block. I see my mistakes and plan to keep this as one on my treasures:)
I cut one 2 1/2 square of dark fabric for my center.
I cut two 2 7/8 squares of dark fabric for the star.
I cut four 2 1/2 of light color fabric for my corners.
I cut two 2 7/8 of light color fabric for the star.
Then I pressed it with my iron. Then to my machine and you see what I came out with:) This has to be done with a scant stitch and this was my first time for that:)

mjsylvstr 01-09-2011 02:55 PM

Joan........one question...

wouldn't it have been easier to make the squares for the stars by doing HST (half square triangles).it looks in your pictures that you cut triangles and then joined them.

Just a thought for an easier method.......

I took my square and placed in on my matt. The shape of a diamond. Then cut it down the center:) This was the first time I tried making a block and I am proud of my work:)

Joan, you did so well. I am so proud of you. Look how well everything fits together. That is your work!!!! You did good.
You read the pattern, followed instructions and produced that marvelous block!!!!!!!!!! I am a proud sister.
(1/2 square triangles would have worked. You will graduate to that later. You did great!)

dsb38327 01-09-2011 03:35 PM

Anyone want to post a few photos showing how to make the half square triangles? Have any handy? Step by step, work in progress.

mjsylvstr 01-09-2011 06:46 PM

Joan, I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else.....

I offered that as a suggestion and nothing more.

your block turned out lovely.......and you have every right to be proud of your work.

I think if you just do a search there is already one, if not more, tutes on doing them here on the board... with photos.

mommafank 01-09-2011 06:50 PM

Joan---I love your block-----so pretty and looks perfect.

It's cool. Joan wasn't offended and she was happy to learn there are so many different ways to make different pieces of the quilting patterns. We are here to help each other and you were helping. I made my 1/2 square triangles the hard way for several months before I happened upon the faster ways. I stretched that bias till it squeaked. :) . Couldn't figure out why it was so wavy when I finished. :) It all comes in time. Thank you for helping and please don't stop.

Yes. I looked and found 4 methods in just a few minutes. They were all good. I know there are probably more. We just pick the one that works best for the project we are on.
I am loving this post. I want to thank each and every one of you for making it such a success.

Bubblegum0077 01-09-2011 08:03 PM

Here are two of my WIP's. The first is 15" squares and the second is 10". Not in any order yet, just laid them out to show. The blocks are ready to put with sashing or binding. I love red back and white looks.

Oops, just realized I had a smudge on my lens. Maybe you can tell from these though and I love doing my quilty picture cross stitching. You can't see it but it says "Singer" on the featherweight. WIll try to replace these pictures later to clearer ones.

I had saved it to a folder months ago thinking I wanted to make one someday:) So if you want to look at it on her post ,here is the link. I think it's a beautiful star:) Thanks Debbie:)

I want to show everyone where I got the pictures of two of the quilts I posted. I need to start taking notes of who they belong to so I can show them the respect they deserve. Those two quilts belong to Eddie and here are his links.

Thank you all so much for the work in progress photos and links. I have noticed lots of work in progress posts and I am gleeful to read each one of them..
Have you seen this one? http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-89877-3.htm#2254410
Busy Bee is making a One Block Wonder. Her fabric is horses. If you copy/paste her photos to your desktop so you can enlarge them you will see so much detail. Maybe she will post close ups of each block for us later. One of her blocks has the horses standing in a circle as if they are around a campfire.
Good job on the wind mills, Joan..
