The last pictures are of my first D9P Quilt that I just finished today:) With talking to my sister Dorothy for an hour on the phone this morning, I finally got my binding on right:):):):) Yep! First are my 9 squares.

Sew them together.

Press your seams.

Then cut down the middle again.

Joan, you make everything look so easy. you are doing such a good job. You may not realize how square your blocks are. (That is a 'good' thing! ). I enjoyed the work in progress photos. Looks like Midnight is ready to go to sleep..

Wonderful quilts, D9P is one of my favorite patterns to make. It was my very first one to finish also.

A little update on my sister's quilt for those who are not following my scrappy WIP thread. I have enough blocks for a throw size, which is what I want, so now I'm going to play with the arrangement.
At first I liked the one in the second photo, but after looking at it a while, I've decided that it's much too top heavy and I need to alternate the large blocks with the small ones. I'll try again tomorrow.

Wildyard, I enjoy your work in progress photos. I like your work.
Joan, you mentioned your binding is one long strip. Did you get more fabric and cut a new strip or did you seam your selvage to selvage strip cuts into one long strip? The binding is beautiful fabric. You do so well matching fabrics.

I just cut my 2 and a half in. strips...A bunch of them! Then sewed them together into one long strip. I didn't double my strips and sew them together this time. I may replace my binding someday but wanted to use what I had cut and I didn't think I had enough to double it with the strips I wanted to use. As it turned out I didn't have any trouble going around the corners at all.

Very nice quilt! Love the colors.

Love the quilt and the quilt top. I like that the quilting isn't so dense. I don't like those tightly quilted pieces.

I am so happy with it. I have no clue what binding I will use on it though....

Me Too. Viewing other's works in progress can be learning opportunities for us newbies.
I still would really really like to see a photo of the basted backing. My DH also wants to see one so he knows what I'm supposed to be accomplishing. He has asked me a few times if what I have done is ok and I have to tell him, I don't know because I have never seen one, but that I don't think it is right yet. He is very supportive and helps me all he can. Please Please Please!!!

Sorry I posted that twice. I didn't think it worked the first time because when I clicked send, the window jumped to a picture of someones quilt and started scrolling quite fast by itself. Internet Explorer has been acting up a lot on me lately. Tomorrow I will have to call my server.

wildyard 03-16-2011 05:21 PM

Hi all, I am about to start another quilt that I'm going to do a WIP thread posting on. Here is the link for anyone interested in following along.

I would so much like to see the work in progress photos. I believe it is possible more members do not show the work in progress photos because they think few of us want to see them.
If you want to see more work in progress photos when we show our finished works of art please sign below.
