If you know the name/author of the book (or the number) you can check here to see if you can find a better price on it. I found out the hard way that books can be bought for far less than I had paid for mine.

Carol is the best. Also love her paper for paper piecing.

I have 2-3 Carol Doak'S books. All used and bought very cheap. Keep an eye out at thrift stores where they sell yard, crochet stuff, etc. Very good deals there. Got a Patrick Lose book for $2.00.
Our Long Beach quilting guild was going to have Carol as a speaker and do a workshop but I understand that the current increases in airfare, baggage charges, etc.,(she lives on the east coast)became so outstanding that we have had to cancel her. Bummer!!! I had signed up for that class.
To the gal in So California--do try and hook up with a quilting guild. I belong to two: one in Long Beach, CA and Orange Grove in Garden Grove, CA (Orange County). these guilds are a gold mine of inspiration and freely given talent. Well you pay for a orkshop but if you have a question the knowledge is always there and given freely by someone who has "been there, done that."

Suzy, don't you know that a quilter always begins the next quilt before the previous one is finished? (Ask me how I know!)

I had a tough time trying to figure out paper piecing until I got her book and video. I got mine at Connecting Threads.

I learned how to paper piece by taking a class with Carol Doak. Now I use freezer paper and use the method by Judy Mathieson where you stitch next to the paper and when you're done, the paper comes off and you can reuse the pattern. It's great!

Shavereg... I use a quarter foot ruler and it is the best
!!! Makes paperpiecing so easy and always exact!!!
You only need to buy the 6 inch ruler unless you are working on very long sections... I just slide it along perfectly.. I"m lost without it!
