Keepsake Quilting (on line and by catalog) sell wide backings in several colors of small prints, don't know if they have solid colors or not. My local JoAnn's carries the wide muslin, I think it's 108inches wide.

I have seen it in a local store, but I piece my backings. You can get creative with your backings.

You can use a bedsheet for the backing also. This will depend on whether the quilt is going to be larger than the bedsheet or not. You can use a queen size bedsheet for a regular size quilt, as this will give you extra material around the quilt as you are quilting it. You can also use a king size sheet for the queen size quilt. I got this from another quilter's message board, the woman suggested that you can get wide backing fabric at www.fabricdepot.com. She said that you can usually get the wide backing at 30% off online. Good Luck ! Hope this helps. I

Has anyone used a coloured Egyptian cotton sheet----we are v thin on the ground for stuff here in GB.

Hi.
|
I recently found wide fleece at Real Deals for $1.00 a linear foot... that's $3.00 a yard. They had it in navy blue, beige and red. This was the width to make a full size quilt I think. Can't remember the actual dimension just now and don't have it with me to measure it for you.
My family loves fleece for backing on their quilts. |

I've sometimes had to piece them and I sometimes decided to buy good quality king size sheets for the back, but now they seem too expensive to buy for backing or maby the price comes out about the same as pieced material backs.
