Any ironing board that has four separate legs will be sturdy and won't wobble or move. I have the Walmart extra wide board DH cut a piece of 3/4" plywood, 48 x 24, I covered it with one layer of cotton batting and then stapled a pretty print over that. It sits on top of the ironing board and doesn't budge or slip. Using the thicker plywood keeps the board from shifting. A thin board will need stops underneath to keep it in place. He has so far cut boards for every member of my quilting group. My teen love it. She can lay out a tee/top and press it all in one piece. Her tops look like they just come from a pressing at the cleaners. My Steady Betty fits perfectly at one end for pressing quilt blocks. I bought a large ceramic tile I put on top for tracing or gluing or other messy chores. I have a floor lamp with gooseneck behind the board. My ironing station is a super convenient fast station for me and the family. It's always being used for something.

I just checked Walmart.com and sure enough, there it was!! But the site said they were only sold online! Not in stores! Lucky you!!!

The Walmart site said it wasn't sold at my local store either but it was. And you can have it shipped to any Walmmart anywhere, for free in store pick up. I noticed Target had the same board but the price was much more. I think Target will price match though.

What about the angle of the flat iron in the stand - is it straight enough so that it isn't producing steam all the time - meaning you know how far you need to tip the iron to get the steam to start if it has been sitting.

I found one there several years ago, and like you, I LOVE it! I really appreciate the bar on the end that you can hang shirts on. It hasn't made ironing any easier or more fun, but at least now I know where DH's unironed shirts are.

Marysewfon, the angle the iron would sit at is about a 45 degree angle. I really doubt I will put my iron there until I get more confident. I ironed for the first time today on it...just pieces I am sewing into blocks, and so far....I just love this ironing board!!

Debbie, I know it says not available in stores, but I promise I bought mine there yesterday, and it sounds like others have done the same. We have 3 Wal-Marts and I wonder if all three have them....though I am not curious enough to go look. :)

I purchased in a garage sale a wide ironing board which has expandable ears on the left end side, the narrow side of the board so it makes a nice rectangular surface, I think it dates from the 70's. I love it and it's very sturdy. I try to find a pattern for a cover but I have no success searching the internet, does any of you have such an ironing board and would have a pattern for a cover.

I just looked at Walmart's site to see the wide ironing board....and it states - not in stores - lucky to whomever to have found one at her store....I think I'll take a peek Monday.....

QUESTION: can the height of the board be lowered? My now ironing board stands alongside my sewing machine at the same height as the machine cabinet, so I can just roll to it and iron...does this have the height adjustment capability???
