I always thought a 1/4 inch was a 1/4 inch. Didn't know there were different sizes of 1/4 inch.

I moved the needle 1 position to the left - guess I should measure it for exactness when I try to explain it. I think of it as the opposite of 'scant' for which I move the needle 1 position to the right.

For my current quilt I am using 3 1/2" simply for aesthetics purposes and fold over to make it double. I usually just do 2 1/4" and sew on with 1/4" seam.
