...No sashing unless you are going for a basic color, like to match a room or favorite color, then I'd probably like a pale shade of that color...I love lavender, that robin-egg blue.

Remember one thing it is your quilt and it is nice to get ideas, then you decide what you want to do. I have had help like this on many of my quilts, sometimes that helps you decide the way to go with it.
Everyone thinks I have an eye for it, but if it wasn't for the help of my fellow quilters I wouldn't have went with the way it turned out, but I am sure glad that I have asked for their help, for everyone sees things different. |
I like using 1" between squares. Adds a PoP but without seeming to simply add to the size.

I agree with asmmauer, especially with the piano keys border along the outside edge. A narrows inside black border migiht look nice I love the diamond effect.

I think I'd do a 1"...but as you can see, it's all personal opinion. YOu might try cutting a couple of different widths and place them to see what you like...and do the same with the colors. Then, you'll know it when you hit it!

Please post a photo when you decide what to do. We all will want to see it.

I agree with everyone saying no sashing, it's beautiful like it is, and to make bigger just use borders. You can make one 2-3 inch border, and then a wider one which will make it a nice size, plus you can also make it longer with adjusting the width of the bottom & top.

I vote for black sashing 1" wide, maybe 1.5". But I have seen some strip quilts done with light sashing and they were pretty too.
