I got a job at my local quilt shop!!! I was in there yesterday spending my husband's hard earned money  and the owner asked me if I wanted to come in and work one day a week. She pays in fabric---so every Wednesday I will be earning about 6 1/2 yards of fabric!! Is this fun, or what? Both of my daughters are excited because they know I cannot use 26 yards of fabric a month-so I will be sharing with them too.
The owner also told me that she would like for me to make shop samples sometimes. She will give me the fabric and the pattern, I will make the top, she will supply the batting and backing, send it out to be quilted, and when she is finished using it in the shop as a sample--I get to have it!! Isn't that a sweet deal???? I am really excited---one day a week for all that fabric. What more could a girl ask for?  |
Oh Marcia, what a dream come true!! You must show us what you choose each week... :D
|
WOW... what a perfect job!! It doesn't get much better than that!

26 yards of fabric a month!!!
You'll be RICH  Let us know when the shop is all decorated up with your samples. |

Yes, you will have to show up your paycheck each week :!: |
Congratulations. I want a job like that!!! Hope you have a great time!!!!

Good job is a bit redundant, eh? LOL
I am glad for you, and you will grow so much in learning different techniques. And, helping family with their stash too! Good job ... that is all I can think! |

Holy cow, Marcia. You hit pay dirt! How fun that will be. You'll have to let us all know what you learn from working there too. I can hardly wait to see the fabrics you choose and then the quilts you make. You are going to be one busy lady.

Thanks everyone---I am really excited about it, too!!! I don't start until a week from Wednesday because this week I am keeping one of my granddaughters while my daughter and son in law are out of town.
The shop is small, but really nice and the woman who owns it is really great. Her daughter and granddaughter work there too--a real family affair. I always have a great time when I go in there-they are all so much fun. |

Oh I want to be YOU one day a month! Is that too much to ask!?
Congrats Marcia! Couldn't happen to a better person! Lori |
I am soooo envious. The only downside I can think of is that you will have more fabric, and less time to do anything with it!
