I have looked at this fabric wayyyyyyyyyyy to long and all I see are the green and pink.I really want another color to work in here what do you think of this one?

Jammin' Jane 07-27-2011 11:12 AM

Purple or black!

ontheriver 07-27-2011 11:13 AM

purple or the aqua/blue

LyndaOH 07-27-2011 11:14 AM

Is there a chocolate brown in the stripe?

Did someone say chocolate???

PaperPrincess 07-27-2011 11:14 AM

or a white on white

fabric_fancy 07-27-2011 11:15 AM

grey or blue grey to tone down the bright pink and green

LisaGibbs 07-27-2011 11:17 AM

The tan with a hunter or sage green or those three colors. That green is kind of off. Love the fabric though.

MIJul 07-27-2011 11:20 AM

A green that's just a bit darker, maybe?

bluteddi 07-27-2011 11:27 AM

Aqua!!! or black!

ragqueen03 07-27-2011 11:41 AM

my vote is for 'CHOCOLATE" brown! i love it next to pink and green!

lgc 07-27-2011 11:43 AM

Don't forget to look at the selvedge for those helpful little dots for other color choices.

ibeesewin 07-27-2011 11:47 AM

I think you are asking if the tan fabric in the middle will work. I think yes...but black would really make the colors pop, or would that be to amish looking?

jrhboxers 07-27-2011 11:51 AM

My thought was you need to replace the pink with the burgundy or the lime green with a darker green. But that is just my opinion. I hate it when I have to use brights that really take away the beauty of the print. JMNSHO

But I would definitely want to add one of the darker colors.

kraftykimberly 07-27-2011 11:54 AM

Black always makes a statement.

laughingquilter 07-27-2011 12:05 PM

I think a different green (more "sagey"?) and a purple would be awesome.

Rann 07-27-2011 01:35 PM

I do like the stripe.

nativetexan 07-27-2011 01:49 PM

I'm not fond of that shade of green with it.

Holice 07-27-2011 01:54 PM

well you certainly have your work cut out for you. with all the suggestions what are you gonna do now.

amma 07-27-2011 03:36 PM

You have one light and two mediums to go with the stripe. Maybe add one dark into the mix. OR take out the green and add a dark... then maybe use the green in part of the border? :D:D:D

Granny Quilter 07-27-2011 05:09 PM

What about a silver grey

KS quilter 07-27-2011 07:47 PM

A light blue, or grayish blue

I agree. I also think that a more peachy pink would work better. I think that the colour in the stripes does not 'read' that dark because of some optical effect of the contrast. To me that fabric needs dusty colours with it.

How about a darker golden yellow. Maybe adding a shade of blue in too

SueDor 07-28-2011 03:27 AM

Purple to match the stripes.

Heres my thoughts~

If you want to go with the solids add a purple or a blue

if you want to match the stripe it will have to be a different yellow and green.

I am attaching a picture of a fabric that incorporates the colors you have chosen so you can see how the purple would work - also if you wanted to use a print, one like this would work (sorry picture not very good - if interested I can send better pic later) this was just to show color combo but would be willing to sell fabric lol

Please be sure to let us see what you decide on!!!cheryl  :D

stchenfool 07-28-2011 03:53 AM

How about white instead of the beige?

fireworkslover 07-28-2011 04:08 AM

I think your green has too much yellow in it. A darker green perhaps and maybe a red-violet or a light gray blue and then black or white to make everything pop.

sandygoshorn 07-28-2011 04:08 AM

The problem has to do with the INTENSITY of the colors. The grey doesn't project the same color intensity as the green and pink. You need to find a color (choc brown would do) that isn't overpowered by the other colors.

ditto

Drew 07-28-2011 04:22 AM

I'd replace the green. The tone isn't quite the same as in the striped fabric.

MargeD 07-28-2011 04:23 AM

I personally would use a softer green and purple in any range from lavendar to a medium purple. I think I have that fabric, hope you show us what you made.

dixiechunk 07-28-2011 04:26 AM

What are you making and any particular reason you have chosen all solids to go with that gorgeous stripe?

jitkaau 07-28-2011 04:26 AM

Dark steel grey for contrast - black would be too strong with those colours.

dotski 07-28-2011 04:41 AM

BLACK....BLACK...BLACK....BLACK...BLACK

essaytx 07-28-2011 04:49 AM

I've been taught to have contrast - a dark color is needed to make the lighter colors pop. I like the stripe.

Karen's Kreations 07-28-2011 04:55 AM

I think black would look awesome.

Personally, if you are using the stripe, I don't like any of the 3 colors you have chosen with it. I would use marbles, or some muted version of the colors in the stripes. Of course, a lot depends on the block design you are chosing. But that green just doesn't make it for me.
