I'm with the 'less is more' brigade (very unusual for me!) - better without imho.

Deborahlees 08-21-2012 06:54 AM

I would have only one yellow rose on the top left....like the symbol of them....but think more than one is too much.

jmabby 08-21-2012 07:00 AM

I love roses, but in this case I would not use them

MaggieBB 08-21-2012 07:00 AM

No roses, you have blue bonnets, enough flowers already. Love your square.

MattieMae 08-21-2012 07:26 AM

I like it best without the fabric yellow roses, but a single yellow rose at the top of the staff (top left) would also be nice. By digitized, do you mean you machine embroidered the staff and banner? How big is this block?

crafty pat 08-21-2012 07:38 AM

If it were mine I would leave the roses off. I love it just the way it is.

Jingle 08-21-2012 10:00 AM

I would not use the roses.

maryel 08-21-2012 03:02 PM

I myself think that it is just lovely without the roses....

Ioftheneedle 08-21-2012 03:36 PM

I vote without the yellow rose.

bhanes 08-22-2012 03:17 AM

Without the roses. Really pretty.

deedum 08-22-2012 03:23 AM

Without the Roses.

Cindy60545 08-22-2012 03:28 AM

I like it without any roses, but I would also like it with the cluster of three roses down on the right hand corner & skip the single ones up top. I think adding the roses gives it just that extra touch.

marymay 08-22-2012 03:29 AM

Without the Roses. Please,

Wanabee Quiltin 08-22-2012 03:31 AM

I like the punch of the yellow, but do not like the roses.

WMUTeach 08-22-2012 03:39 AM

I vote no roses. I like the sentiment but they pull the eye away from your other work.

Hoarder 08-22-2012 04:22 AM

Where are the "Yellow roses of Texas"? Blue Bonnets ARE Texas to me. Don't cover them up and people go by the droves to see the bluebonnets!!! Leave the roses off is my vote?

Vat 08-22-2012 04:25 AM

No roses ! ! ! Maybe some more flying geese in the oppisite corner, love them.

piepatch 08-22-2012 04:41 AM

I like it without the roses.

Lucy90 08-22-2012 04:42 AM

I like it without the rose. If you need to put a rose just one in the upper left.

Wonnie 08-22-2012 05:48 AM

If I were to use the rose it would be a different shade of yellow...think the current shade is too bright for the piece. If I used it it would be inside the emblem on the light blue print above the word "THE...". Otherwise I'd leave it alone. Nice work!

Latrinka 08-22-2012 05:51 AM

Very pretty! I'd go with only one rose at the top left corner.

I agree with Tartan, don't add the roses. I know the idea "the yellow rose of Texas" but it looks better to me without them. IMHO.

Antdebby1 08-22-2012 05:57 AM

No roses please! Your block is lovely. :) :)

Tudey 08-22-2012 06:03 AM

Although I am partial to yellow roses, I think they clutter up a lovely block---I vote without!

bibi 08-22-2012 06:04 AM

Obviously I am not an expert, but I do like it without the roses better. However, if you really feel adding the yellow roses add to the cultural picture, I would add them on the actual light blue material, slightly apart from the main symbol. Or even picture number 2 without the top 2 roses looks pretty too me. I do like your quilt and your work is terrific.

southernmema 08-22-2012 06:08 AM

Without.....

judykay 08-22-2012 06:19 AM

Without, I love the flying geese they really add to it & the roses take away from the quilt. I also remember the song very well & now it is stuck in my head.

Termi 08-22-2012 06:31 AM

I like it without the roses although I know there's a song The Yellow Rose of Texas and it would be great to get one on there. Maybe it would look better with smaller roses. Just a thought.

EagarBeez 08-22-2012 06:39 AM

Without roses

fmhall2 08-22-2012 06:40 AM

Since you have the flying geese in the upper right corner of the border, how about putting the roses in the lower left corner of the border. I would like that very much and think it would look very nice.

pal 08-22-2012 06:51 AM

No roses. How about adding a silk yellow rose in the packaging just for fun?

marymm 08-22-2012 06:57 AM

This Texan says the yellow roses don't really fit the "personality" of the quilt, if that makes sense. However, that said, the roses are pretty. Use them in another project--maybe an appliqued basket...could even add bluebonnets!

Friday1961 08-22-2012 07:01 AM

As a born and bred Texan, I say no to the roses. The block is lovely as it is and the roses detract, I think.

Quilty-Louise 08-22-2012 07:02 AM

I might be a Colorado native, but my "signature" is 3 yellow roses
(of course I can't post that in my signature on here).

So with that being said.. I vote for WITH the roses since I am so partial
to them.

Rose Bagwell 08-22-2012 07:10 AM

As much as I love roses and I am from Texas, I like without roses .

Sew Freak 08-22-2012 07:15 AM

luv the geese, and #3

KathyKat 08-22-2012 07:40 AM

I like it without the roses. Most likely you are thinking of the song "The Yellow Rose of Texas" which makes the yellow roses appropriate. However the Bluebonnet is the state flower and maybe you should take a look at that.

Robinlee 08-22-2012 07:54 AM

I agree..........
