I picked up this fabric last night at Walmart...I just have to add too that I'm really impressed with the modern print and quality of this fabric! Cranston VIP you're stepping up your game there... ;)

Anyhow I'd like to make a 3d pinwheel like I've seen in the tutorial section for my baby girl who's due the end of April.

I'm going to use the floral and dark pink for borders and backing, and the other fabrics for the pinwheels. Do you think I should add some green to this? My only concern is the green that goes with this collection is a lot more vibrant than the green in the leaves and vines of the floral.

Or do you think it's fine alone with just the fabrics shown?

erstan947 02-11-2011 06:28 AM

I think this selection is great. Wonderful choices:)

feffertim 02-11-2011 06:28 AM

I really like the green. I would add it if I were you

mom-6 02-11-2011 06:29 AM

If the greens you are talking about using are the ones you have pictured, then I would definitely use them. If it is another green not pictured, can't tell you without seeing it.

Freddie 02-11-2011 06:34 AM

I love the colors you have showing. The darker green of the two makes the other colors pop.
Can't wait to see the finished item.

pumpkinpatchquilter 02-11-2011 06:40 AM

I know it's tough without showing the fabric - but the green really borders on a lime green. It's not dark like the green in the vines of the floral...this is why I'm so torn! ;)

maine ladybug 02-11-2011 06:43 AM

I think you have a very nice group of fabrics there. I would use what is shown.

Ditto!!!

buckyfan19 02-11-2011 06:48 AM

I would say it would add if you went with the darker green, but most definately would "pull" your eye away from the pink pattern. So, it depends on where you want the focus of your quilt. I like the combo as it is!

maryb119 02-11-2011 06:48 AM

I like what you have chosen.

ssnare 02-11-2011 06:50 AM

Take a picture of the green with the fabrics and let us see.

It is fine with this selection. I am going to Walmart because of these colors.

Thank you!

Plain Jane 02-11-2011 07:52 AM

They are just beautiful. I love the green.

Lv2sew2011 02-11-2011 07:53 AM

Our Walmarts dont sell fabrics any more. :-(

amandasgramma 02-11-2011 08:02 AM

I didn't buy the green or I would love to! ;) I think I'm going to head over there in just a few minutes to buy a little...then I can take a picture and think about it some more after seing it all together. It's only $4.97 a yard so I'll be a few half yard cuts so I won't break the bank. ;)

That stinks! ;( I get a different story everytime I go, but the lady who was cutting last night seemed to think it was staying. *crosses fingers*

OKLAHOMA PEACH 02-11-2011 08:05 AM

Thank you!

I hope your Walmart carries it! ;) They have a bunch of different florals of a similar pattern but different colors. There was a purple one too I really liked, an aqua, and a more green floral. Then a whole bunch of coordinating fabrics. It was $4.97 a yard at my Walmart too, I only spent about $20 yesterday...can't be that!

CoriAmD 02-11-2011 08:07 AM

Looks good to me with what you have. Enjoy making and be sure to post a picture of the finished quilt. :)

dixiechunk 02-11-2011 08:13 AM

Gorgeous, definitely use the green!

ScrapQuilter 02-11-2011 08:51 AM

If you find the right shade of green - it can be used in most any quilt.............. love your combination. I say yes.

Pieceful Quilter 02-11-2011 03:59 PM

Are you calling the tealish fabrics pictured here green, or is there another green? I love what you have pictured, but would NOT add a limey green. I know white gets dirty easily, but I like to add a bit of white to my baby quilts. It lightens up the quilt, and lends that "pure, new baby" feel to the whole thing.
I found a fabric that is white with small widely spaced pastel polka dots, and I adore it in baby quilts. It complements pink, yellow, blue, soft green, etc. So far, I have gifted three baby quilts with that fabric worked in, in small doses, and every single person has said, "Wow, I would not have thought to add white, but I LOVE it!!"

Your fabrics are all pretty much light to medium, so white would brighten the palette. Just my two cents worth...

I vote with those that are saying include the greens you are showing. It will definitely give it the punch you want. If it is another green you haven't shown us, then??????? maybe not so much

Dragonfly Nana 02-11-2011 04:10 PM

I love what you have pictured just as it is
A white might lighten it a bit but I would not add a green in the "lime" shade.

cathylynn 02-11-2011 04:20 PM

I like the group as shown. keep the green.

Lv2sew2011 02-11-2011 10:17 PM

I just found tonight a Walmart that has a few fabrics for quilting. I was shocked thought they all closed down the fabrics here in Oklahoma..

Holba 02-11-2011 10:21 PM

Absolutely - perfect fabrics - can;t wait to see the product - beautiful.

Tropical 02-11-2011 10:24 PM

I would use what you are showing in your picture. They will make a lovely quilt.

Wholeheart Mom 02-11-2011 10:38 PM

I like your choices as you have them shown... I think it will be perfect for baby quilt.

cheryl rearick 02-11-2011 10:59 PM

I would add the green pop, however your selection is very beautiful

Gladys 02-12-2011 12:22 AM

I love those colors together.

Leezer 02-12-2011 04:34 AM

I would had the green for that extra little pop.

teacherbailey 02-12-2011 04:35 AM

My vote is to use what's in the picture. I am not a pink/green person but I really love the fabric combination you've chosen. I think it's perfect "as is".

quilt3311 02-12-2011 04:38 AM
