Which would you choose?

OK, I've finished this falling charm quilt and I'm ready to put the border on. Which do you think looks best? No pseudo piping? Navy piping? Or beige piping which will also be the backing? I'm going to bind it in navy.
The navy piping is striking .... I would never have thought of using it. Beautiful quilt!
Love the navy piping!
I think the navy blue piping helps the other navy color connect or 'land' instead of float on the fabric and will then also be nicely framed with your navy binding. You could put a piece of navy binding on the edge to view...? Nice quilt.

This is how it would look with navy binding.
I like the navy piping, but the quilt is gorgeous either way!
navy piping pulls this together very nicely.
I'm in the minority here. I like the beige. I think the navy blends into the blocks. I think the beige piping with the navy binding would look good.
I like the navy piping with the navy binding. Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Maggiemay I agree with you I like the beige piping better. The navy blends into the navy fabric. The beige is the break that a piping is there to do! Luann

Thank you all. I won't be back to work on this til later today. Keep the opinions coming.
I prefer the beige piping; like the others, I think that the navy piping blends in too well with the other blocks. Looks gorgeous!
I ,too, like the beige best for the same reasons the rest stated.
Y'all don't think the beige looks like an afterthought?
I vote for the navy piping also.
I am with the beige group! I think the navy blends too much.
Blue piping looks great.
I like the navy piping too.
I kind of like the navy too. It just gives it something more.
navy is my favorite
i like the third choice
Would you consider a contrast for the piping? Red? Forrest green?
Of those pictured, I'd personally go with the navy. I do think that some narrow border treatment helps define the design, though I guess your choices in how you plan to quilt it would be another factor to throw into the mix. |
I love the navy piping. I think all quilts need at least a small dark border to frame them, and then whatever other color one chooses to use just adds to the beauty.
I like the navy, but I do think a dark red would look great too. The beige just seems to get lost except where is is next to the navy.
I love the navy and navy. Perfect!
Okay, I am different and I say no piping, with the beige border and blue binding. I think the beige rows extending into the beige border give it movement. You could quilt feathers down the beige rows and into the beige border.:)
Navy, definitely!
I never considered red, any more comments?
I'm in the navy group. Great idea - I do narrow borders but never thought of piping.
Navy piping with Navy binding.
I like the navy too.
I vote for beige and navy. One slightly wider than the other and then the other borders.

Very pretty fabric! I'd go with the navy. The 2 navies blend into each other, but the tan is lighter (at least in the picture) and seems more eye-catching.
hugs, charlotte |
I would go navy!

Here is a pic of the red that I have.......
Actually it's a darker red than the pic shows
I think the navy looks best; but even if you chose the beige for whatever reason, it is best to add piping instead of leaving it off completely. The piping helps to have it looking "finished" somehow.
