No way, there are so many other things I could spend $60 on
|
I couldn't afford it & wouldn't pay it if I'd won a lottery.Goodness, you could have a custom hand made quilt for less.Blowing money just for the heck of it never interested me.Rather have a roof over my head & no bill collector at the door.

I looked at her website. Everything is recycled and eco friendly. It is expensive to go green. I don't think her fabric is for quilters unless you are independently wealthy. There were several wall hangings, you know fabric stretched on a frame, in her website. More art pieces than bolts of fabric. I have seen several businesses like this come and go in our area. I wish her luck, but I don't think it will last long in this economy.

It sounds like its more art than anything and art prices run the gamut. Would I pay that much? Depends on the piece. If it were a one-of-a-kind print, maybe. I paid $16 for a piece of giraffe print for a special wallhanging.

Anyone, except me maybe, can take a photo and print it on fabric. Have seen flowers and leaves printed from photos onto fabric and used in quilting--usually art quilts. Not my thing however. The fabric in question here is upholstery type and as we know, that can be expensive. Looked at the site and really didn't care for it except maybe the bark ones. Still wouldn't spend that much but apparently someone does.

Obviously she's an artist and I have a son who is also.
I always wonder how they make money to live on. My son teaches photography part-time at Ohio State and is learning pilates and yoga so he will have other options to make money. He's good at his art but it's just too hard to make a living at it. He's well aware of this but when you're an artist it's sometimes hard to work at a "regular" job. In this economic climate I'm amazed that she even has a shop like that. I wouldn't spend that kind of money but if I could afford it and liked it maybe I would. There are many things people spend big bucks on that I wouldn't but there are things I would if I could but I can't so I don't LOL :D |
It's all canvas or sheers, not suitable for quilting other then a fabric art quilt. We don't have to worry about quilting fabric being that expensive yet. The fabric is very pretty for decorating.

If you click on this story and read through to the 2nd store owner, she talks about regionally inspired fabrics. She's charging $60 a yard, and almost $17 for a fat quarter...would you pay this amount for fabric??? I know I wouldn't... |
maybe some people have more money than sense
but they are not on a fixed income |
