Yipee!!! Ordered my kai scissors today!
 

After reading all the comments on scissors and PM'ing with Peckish, I sent an email to the Kai site. I explained my difficulty in finding a great pair of scissors, especially with my Fibro and small hands. I also mentioned that I had issues with cutting poly satin with a rotary cutter.

Well, I received an email within 24 hours for me to call them and I was delighted with the gentleman who helped me decide on the right pair. Because of my issues, they are going to "create" a pair for me! How great is that?????!!!!! He asked lots of questions about what type of table I cut on, what lengths I need to cut continuously. And I didn't have to pay any more for the "special order". What wonderful customer service! He told me to call or email them when the scissors arrived and let them know how they worked for me. He said if I was happy to just spread the word on my blogs. I had told him about the Quilting Board.

I'm so excited! I'm returning the "hard to work" Ginghers and a pair of Wescotts I just bought from Hancocks. The Kai scissors were less than the 2 pair I bought, even with coupons!! Will let yall know how well the Kai work when they arrive!!

Sounds really promising. Fingers crossed.

Have "heard" of Kai scissors, but, don't know where to buy them. HOW AWESOME TO be treated SO KINDLY by the company. Am SO glad for you to get your own custom made scissors. Please let us know how they turn out.

I LOVE customer service stories like that. I hope they do come check out the board and see this thread, because I'm going to order a pair and try them out JUST BECAUSE of that story! I have some Ginghers that I'm very fond of and I don't really need MORE scissors but maybe I'll love these more. (And really, can you ever have TOO MANY pairs of scissors? I love scissors, I even like how they look hanging on my wall, LOL)

Have never heard of Kai scissors before, so did a bit of research. There is a big difference in price between the regular [5000 series] and the professional [7000 series]. Which one do you have?

I don't blame you to be excited about this. I bought 2 pairs of Kai scissors and been using them for almost a year and they are the only ones that are still sharp. Now I am hunting for good prices on all sizes and shapes. They are amazing.

I bought a pair of left handed scissors fro Kai at the Houston Quilt Show a couple of years ago. They are wonderful. I prefer them to any scissors I have ever owned!

which one did they recommend for you? I have fibro and arthritis and would love better scissors.

I won my pair of Kai scissors about a year ago when they had a promotion for them. I love them and plan on buying different sizes after Christmas. I can't justify buying them now.

What a great story. I checked out the link to the ones on Amazon. Not expensive...impressive even.

I have 2 sets of Kai Scissors one set my husband bought more than 30 years ago from a guy that drove a snap on tool truck, he stopped at my husbands shop to see if the guys needed any new tools and my hubs spotted the scissors and bought them, it came in a set of three, best scissors i ever owned, and then a few years later he bought me another set, if anyone touches them, i told them i would start hacking off fingers.
You cannot go wrong with he scissors. I hope you like them, great customer service you received, cudos to them

I LOVE Kai scissors, I have 2 pair plus one of their fabulous small rotary cutters. After 5 years of heavy use my large pair finally needed to be sharpened, sent them back to the company and they sharpened and sent back in only one week! Don't let just anyone sharpen them.

I second this comment. My DH bought me a pair of Kai scissors for Christmas 2 years ago & previously I had never heard of them BUT they are IMO the BEST scissors that I have ever owned, bar none.

That is great customer service. When I went to Empty Spools one year, I believe they gave each student a pair as an anniversary present. I forgot how many years they were celebrating.

Wow, that is some customer service. When I next buy scissors, I will definitely try Kai. They had a booth at the Houston Quilt Festival, but I didn't stop. They were quite busy. Next trip I will make it a point to visit with them.

I love my KAI scissors and heaven help anyone who tries to use them for anything else. They are so awesome. You can also look at the OMNI (yellow handle) scissors. On the blade they say they are made by KAI. I have Fibromyalgia also and it really is important to have a good fitting scissors. They are the best there is.
