Hahaha I loved reading all these... I am a topper. I love the process of making the top but do not like the process after that!!! I didn't realize how many that I actually had made & hadn't finished till I cleaned in Jan & redid my sewing room!!1 I amnot evengonna say!! but I have vowed that I can only do a new quilt when I do one of these ufo's so slowly I am working on both piles!!!

I try to finish it all before moving on. My husband is very supportive of me spending our very limited resources on fabric. I don't want that to end.

Only till I get inspired on how the back will be! Usually that doesn't take much time, but sometimes I get stuck. I made a back two years ago for one quilt top, but then decided that it wasn't the right one after all. I just finished a quilt top last month for my cousin, and that back I'd made was perfect for it!! >>happy dance<<
I'm always surprised at the beautiful tops that are donated to my guild's philanthropic group. We are always overjoyed to receive them, and give great attention to choosingand making the perfect backs for them! I just completed a back in Batiks to go with a double-sized Batik top we received. I was told my many that it should have been the front. If anyone wants to send their UFOs to me, I'll make sure that they are finished and find good homes :) |
I have started spending so much time on here that I only have 2 started. Need to throw the dputer away.

Yes I am a topper. I also know an alien. My MIL doesnt understand how anyone can start a quilt if she has one not finished. I love the process of making the tops but do not like the quilting. When I have extra money I take one to the LAQ. If I die before they are all quilted. The kids can decide what to do with them. They made me happy to make them, so I dont mind if they give them away or if they like one and keep it.

I am definitely a TOPPER. I love the creative process and sewing the top and even piecing the backing. But then I freeze about the quilting. I am so afraid of messing up all that work. I, too, have about 22 tops with backs waiting to be finished. But even worse....I hate binding. I don't mind attaching the binding, but the hand sewing is a definite turn off. Is there any hope for us?
