My 1st block was a square in a square, on point. I started out making them by hand until the nice ladies on this site helped me to thread my sewing machine. Hmmm...wonder what happened to all those squares.

My first block and quilt was a log cabin in greens and whites, lap size. My son still has that quilt folded in the back seat of his car.

My very, very first quilt was a puff pillow quilt...made it for college for my bed. My first "real" quilt block was an Ohio Star block.

My first quilt was the Labyrinth - which has a lemoyne star, HST's, square & rectangles. I started making quilts in Nov 2011 and this one finally has made it to our bed!

Heavens, I don't even remember, probably a pretty basic 9-patch or 4-patch. And what's scary is it wasn't all that long ago. I've just made so many quilts since then, I can't recall which one I started with.

It was the Ohio Star. When I made it, I thought I did an awesome job. LOL

Ha, ha, ha! I started quilting in the 1960's so my very first block was a "granny square." I know that dates me. I've improved much since then!

It is fun to 'tickle' our memories from time to time. The first quilt attempt was yo-yos way back in the fifties. My father was night watchman in a downtown building and one of the building tenants gave him scraps from her dressmaking business and he brought them home to me. I must have made a gillion yo-yos but didn't know what to do with them and finally threw them away. I can't believe I actually threw them away. Boy, would I like to have them back! My next works were embroidered blocks and made into a baby quilt for our first son. That quilt hangs on a wall in his home-he's 45 now. In the '70's I got the first edition of Log Cabin by Quilt in a Day. It's been off to the races ever since. I'm still on the learning curve because I love to try new things. My love of quilting just increases as time goes along.

My first ever was a nine patch. Still have some of them but never did anything with them
