Default Problem with my Brother LB6800

I was sewing along today, when all of the sudden my needle wouldn't go all the way down. If I use the hand wheel, it goes up and then come back down, but the needle is only just flush with the feed dogs. Also, my feed dogs are in the down position. If I flip the switch for feed dogs down, then back up, they don't move. They just stay down. Are these two related problems? What can I do to fix it?!!!

When was the last time you cleaned under your machine, I had that problem only once and it wasn't with the feed dogs but with lint trapped and packed really tight, I would do a good cleaning and see if that helps

After making a couple of denim rag quilts I had the same experience; and Up4Big is right.....I did a thorough cleaning and all was well again. I was a bit timid about taking it apart and cleaning it, but all worked out.
