C&T Publishing who published her book that had the picture of the quilt on the front used the picture to make tote bags. It is my understanding that without C&T knowing it KS was also having a tote bag produced. C&T is s respected and ethical company and in my opinion would not knowingly violate agreements and copyrights.

NoraB, I'm not Onebyone but like her I will not buy any fabric with Kate Spain's name on it. I don't know Onebyone's reasons so I can only express my own. I personally did not like how she went after a quilt designer who used her (Kate Spain's) fabrics in a quilt and this quilt pattern was then published by CT publishing. CT publishing then made a digital copy of this quilt and printed it on a tote bag. Ms. Spain then sic her lawyers onto this quilt designer for copyright infringement and demanded that the tote bags as well as the books that this quilt appeared in be destroyed.

It is a while ago now but I read everything I could find on this incident. (I was laid up with a bad foot and bored.) I also refuse to buy her fabrics because of her behavior. Sometimes you can only make an impact with the dollars you spend.
