I ..Maywood Flannel. I made a “Tree of Life” quilt for my son. The pattern was from Primitive Gatherings and it is really gorgeous still after several years.

The flannel that has given me the most trouble overall is "quilters flannel". It's heavier than most but it seemed to shrink more, bleed more, and pilled with use. I recently finished a baby quilt using super snuggle from JoAnn's and am very pleased with it. It has already been washed several times and has lived up to expectation. It's essentially 2 layers of flannel with no batt and is good weight. JoAnn's gets a lot of bad press but I have good luck with their products. I do like to shop there in person and can touch what I choose to buy. JoAnn's sells craft fabric but also some very nice pieces. It depends on what your taste and pocketbook can allow.

marand.....if you can, check out today's August 4 daily deal from Missouri Star Quilt Company. A bundle of 10 flannel fat quarters for $23.95. Looks like they would be perfect for a man's quilt. Debating on whether I need/want them myself or not.

I am a fan of Moda flannel. I have only made on Flannel quilt and that was years ago. I gave it to my sister to quilt. the top was great but I was not up to quilting this one. It was a rag quilt and was a line strip pattern. My niece just loved it when it was finished. The high quality Moda flannel was all I could think about using. I pre washed it because it was flannel. Best of luck.
