My LQS has this sit and sew available 1 or 2 times a week and she never charges a fee. http://www.susancreations.com

Our LQS has Open Sew Friday each week. The shop is open, the owners are there and anyone is welcome to come in and stay for the day - no charge. A small group of us have been doing this Friday thing for over a year and now more people are dropping in each week to either join us or visit or shop. This is the one constant in my week where I know I can actually get something done without interruption - and I can get help if I need it. The owners have also offered the classroom area to the local guilds to work on projects as long as there is no scheduled class.

Just got the new schedule from Calico Station in Orange Park, FL

UFO Sundays (4th Sunday of each month)

It seems we all have a “few” UFO’s floating
around somewhere in our sewing rooms. Some
you really want to get done one of these days
and some you’d really like to forget about! The
objective for the next 6 months is to encourage
all of us to finish those projects.
Prizes and surprises…so join us for an afternoon of
sewing and friendship and let’s see what we can
do about attacking these UFO’s!
Cost: $10 per session.

My LQS has a sit and Sew every Friday. There is no charge we all do donate to the "kitty" for expenses to the shop for our being there. Sometimes we bring pot luck for lunch or go out as a group. We can help each other and after retiring it is really nice to be with women at least once in a while. Our shop owner is one of the group or our teacher if we choose to have a class on a particular tecnique . we also have friends that come to FL to spend the winter that come and share their skills. I really enjoy all we do Thanks Crafty Cats in Graceville Florida.
