I ran out of fabric in the middle of the quilt. So I went on line. I did find the fabric, ordered it. But when it came, it was not the same. It was very very thin. Completely different quality. Would I be better off using two layers of that particular fabric or just using iron on stabilizer? What would be your thoughts ? BTW, I have learned SO much from all of you. Thank you !!

I agree with quiltsRfun. I'd go with an iron on stabilizer. A soft one that is sewable. If you try to sew 2 pieces of fabric together, you could get shifting and more wrinkling than you might would want. Of course, you could glue them together and the Elmer's school glue would disappear when you wash the quilt. So, either way. Your choice. That's what is sew much fun about quilting. You can reinvent the wheel any time you want.

If you don't have a deadline, maybe continue to look for the "right" fabric?

I would use an iron on interfacing instead of stabilizer. You can get a tricot interfacing that is very nice and won't make the fabric stiff. It will also help if the fabric is loosely woven and ravels a lot.
