Pamela! I just found a Christmas stocking drawing on Pinterest, looked up some vintage stockings and then came up with this plan. the toe and heal are appliquéd onto the pieced base. The lace and floral trim were added before I put the stocking together. Hope this helps.

Beautiful stocking. I think I would make the back "crazy" like the front, however, not use the beautiful lace trim. You said in another post that the toe and heel were appliqued. I think I would forgo that part on the back also. Would also leave off the pink cuff. I have made many Christmas stockings over the years, but never a quilted one. You have done such a beautiful job. Would love to borrow your idea for my new GGD.

Humbird! Thanks for your comments. I have decided to do a "quilt as you go" back" with the same fabrics. You absolutely may use my idea. Got the line drawing from Pinterest and ideas from there too. Happy sewing. Let me see what you make!

Isn't that beautiful? Love it. It has given me an a-ha! This would be an excellent idea for a "memory stocking", using fabrics from a deceased loved one.

That is gorgeous! I would probably do a plain back but either way is fine.

It's your stocking so you can make it like you want; most I've seen have plain backs, but you could do both the same. Your's is gorgeous - as is.

Your stocking front is beautiful! Yes you can make the back plain.
