Thumbs up Questions about a sewing machine

I have an opportunity to purchase a Husqvarna – Viking Model 330 sewing machine that has never been used & I have the following questions:

1) When was this model manufactured?
2) Would it be good as a back up machine to my Brother machine?
3) Pros & Cons on its overall operation?
4) What would be a fair price to pay for this machine which has never been used?

Any feedback to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

MaryC

I have this machine and I bought it in 1987 and it was used at the time. They were made in Sweden and is just a wonderful workhorse of a machine. Lots of stitches and is electronic not computerized. I put my walking foot on it and use the #1 Plus for my regular sewing. Never had any problems with it. Never has been in the shop, just keep it cleaned and it never needs oiling. I paid $400 way back then but you should do a whole lot better now. They don't come up for sale much because people never want to get rid of them.

Dear Debra:

Thanks for your reply. The current owner is selling it for $200 or best offer. I may just take her up on it so I can have a back up machine on hand if my current machine breaks down.

Thanks & have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I have a Viking 940 that I bought new in 1982 for about $800. (That would equate to several thousand dollars in today's money.) As athomenow said, it is a great machine. I have never had a single problem with mine and it also has never been in the shop. I clean mine occasionally, and in the manual it says it never needs oiling, so it has never been oiled. It has been a workhorse for anything I've needed it for. It has been so dependable I'd almost be afraid to try anything else. If you can get that Viking for $200, a great price in my opinion, I'd jump on it before someone else does! Let us know!

I have a Viking 190 (much less of a machine) but love it!! I also have two computerized Vikings all made in Sweden. They are all workhorses and never go to the stop for misbehaving!!! $200 for a new machine. Go for it but try offering less to see what she says. Good Luck
