I found this wonderful video and I am amazed by how easy her method of binding a quilt is. Her method for joining the binding ends is wonderful. Give this a try - I hope it is of some help to you. Copy and paste the address in your browser:

If this link does not work - do a You Tube Search for the following: Quilt Binding: Joining Ends, Marci Baker of Alicia's Attic

Good Luck...

Yep, this is the Youtube video I used to bind. I just placed an order for The Binding Tool by Susan Brown from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

If using 2 1/2" cut binding makes the back too wide then cut the binding a little narrower. However, if the binding is wider on the back than the front, this is ok as long as the amount is even. I prefer to have the edge of the binding just cover the seam line on the back of the quilt. I usually sew with a 3/8" seam rather than a 1/4" seam unless the binding is on the edge of patchwork and must use the 1/4" seam.

These are the basic criteria we use in judging binding.

THank you for posting this Holice..I was going to track it down in the archives, but you saved me time!

I make my binding a little narrower. I want it full and I want it to cover the stitches when I sew it on the back. I make it double, and sew the raw edges on the front, that way the binding is 1/4 inch wide on the front, and a little wider on the back. I think that looks the best.

Thanks for the thread and thanks Holice for the judging info. About a year ago I started cutting mine at 2 3/8" folded in half and sewn on with 3/8" seam. It "fills" the binding perfectly.
