I had a problem with the tool also. I was not using the tool correctly. I, too, watched the video. Now that I am using the tool correctly, I love it! Until I got the tool, I had so much trouble joining the binding. I can remember ripping out the binding joint four times before I got it right on one quilt. I never bound a quilt without having to rip at least once. Now, I have a perfect join every time thanks to the Missouri Star Quilt video.

I could never get my head around which way to flip the ends to finish off the binding (I always ended up with a twist) until I got the Fons and Porter binding tool. I just followed the instructions and never messed up a single one. It looks so easy now, but I still use it every time. Here is one place to get one and you can see what one looks like (Joann's also has them and you can use a coupon):

Sharon Shamber has a great method. She uses glue and it works great!

I have the binding tool also, it does work very well but I always forget how to use it, so I have to watch the video every time.

I have used the binding tool on the last 2 quilts I've made. One, I twisted it and sewed it wrong twice! before I got it right. The directions were great--my following them correctly was not. LOL. Also, Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville has great binding directions. Like others on here have said, I do them so seldom, I have to re-learn all over every time!

I'm glad that this thread got started. I have looked at the tool several times and wasn't sure if it was worth getting. Now I want one--darn just drove into the quilt store today.
