Donna, for something quick and easy and is striking, in my opinion, is the Take 5 quilt. It takes 5/8 yd of 5 different fabrics...If you want to make it larger, just increase yardage to 7/8 yd, and cut more blocks... It makes up so fast. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents..

I don't want her to feel like I've just thrown something together, even though that's pretty much what I'll probably have to do. Any and all help would be very much appreciated! :c)

Quiltforme (on this site) has done one she called "pinwheel disappearing 4 patch" and she gave the coloured photos of how to do it. I did a square to try it and it is easy. I did big squares about 16" (they get cut a few times) and it looks like a lot of work but it isn't. I would copy it to here but don't know how; but if you type it in on the search area up on the top of the page it will come up.

Well, if you have a quilt "in mind" for your sister's birthday in March, in sounds like you haven't started it . That only gives you 2 months. Lets assume you finish it by her birthday, you still have at least 2 months to the next sister's birthday, so I would suggest you make the same design only in different colors.

Actually any p patch or 4 patch or 5 patch or 7 patch block could be enlarged for a one block quilt. Again as stated by several on this thread the fabric choice are more important than the pattern. And for the most part (aside from floral motifs) the fabric makes the block masculine or feminine. Most of these patterns -------the simpler ones------are just squares and HST-----generally fairly quick to do.

I agree with EasyPeezy, the Double Slice tutorial on Missouri Quilt Co. is an easy, but very quick pattern. Made with Layer cakes, or just 10" squares. I just finished one before Christmas with 10 " Christmas squares from our Christmas guild party Dec. 11. So you can see you would have lots of time. And it was fun. I plan on making another with a set of Layer Cakes since the colors are all coordinated for me. The Christmas one was busy, but fun.
