For quilts, only double fold binding. I don't make table runners or coasters.

If I'm binding I double fold for everything. The binding gets the most wear so I've always used double.

I like to make the backing an inch larger on all sides then fold double to the front and machine stitch down.

I prefer to double fold as the binding seems to go on easier but if the binding fabric is in short supply, I use single fold. I think it is all a case of personal preference.

Usually WOF double fold binding sewn on completely by machine, as most are charity or kids quilts.
