I like the Irish Chain quilt - only two colors needed and simple piecing - or even double or triple irish chain -take a look at those - they are very impressive yet are very simple construction.

Just Can't Cut It has 12 1/2" blocks and all other blocks are 6 1/2" -- goes together super fast.

I was all set to do the half log cabin - and then I looked a little more. I'm so glad I did! I found the most perfect quilt design for my sister!

I started late yesterday morning - a friend of mine came over to sew and monopolized my cutting mat and she is also a very needy sewing partner.. she never understands the directions to the project she is working on, cuts things wrong, and just needs a lot of help... I know I would have finished piecing the top completely yesterday had I been alone!! It's going to be a 70" square

Anyway... It is coming out absolutely gorgeous!
I'm so glad I held out for the perfect design. I'm not a D9P fan - to me, it's boring. I did it once. I did a DD9P and a TD9P (double and triple) and they are a little more interesting but still kind of boring to look at for me... I've done the Warm Wishes twice already and it's again just a boring repeat for me. I like to do something a little more visually interesting. I love the way this quilt looks! and it's going together so fast!!

I'm using the Hawaiian print for all of the not black pieces. I'm also using a dark blue/black blender fabric instead of a solid black. I had *just* enough of the Hawaiian print. I had to piece a few pieces of the Hawaiian print together since I miscut in the beginning but wow it is just gorgeous! I'll post pictures after I finish piecing the top today. It is just stunning. I might need to make one for me after I finish up these wedding quilts. I think I will use this block for a quilt for my older son. I can just see it using outer space fabrics. It's going to look so cool! I want to start it now!!!

I am hoping to hand deliver the one for my sister. I'm going to her wedding so I'd like to bring it. It's a 14 hour drive so I want to make sure I'm not going empty handed. She's not going on a honeymoon. My niece is getting married in Wisconsin and I won't be able to attend that wedding. I'd like to be able to get it done so that I can give it to my mother so she can hand deliver it. I just don't trust the postal service with something like this. I've heard too many horror stories of stolen quilts.


Oh my gosh guys this quilt is gorgeous!!! I've never named a quilt before but this one I might have to. Even my husband was taken by it and he's a pretty hard guy to impress

"Walk About" quilt pattern by Grizzly Gulch is a very fast pattern and can feature a large print fabric/floral. I just made one for my granddaughter and after I had blocks cut (one evening) I put it together in less than a day.

I have a couple quilts that go together really fast and easy but looks great. Unfortunately, I don't have a name for this block. Here are the instructions. I taught this quilt block to my quilt group and each lady had a quilt half or 3/4's done by the end of our 3 hour quilt meeting.
.
1. Take 2 - 8 1/2" square fabrics (mine are 1- pink and 1-floral) and place Right Sides Together and measure down 2 inch on top right side and mark with a pencil or pin.

2. Now measure and mark 2 inches from the BOTTOM of the Left Side of the square and mark the end of the 2 inches with a pin or pencil. DO NOT SEW THESE 2 INCH AREAS. From the end of this 2 inch mark on the BOTTOM left side stitch UP to the corner and over to the corner on the right side of the block. Begin Sewing down from the end of your 2 inch space on the TOP Right side down to the corner then over to the LEFT side corner . So, now you will have a "sandwich" of one light and one dark fabric that are sewn together all around the edges EXCEPT FOR THE 2 INCHES ON TOP RIGHT SIDE AND THE 2 INCHES ON THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE.

3. Press the blocks but DO NOT MOVE THEM OR switch positions of the square.

4. With your ruler and rotary cutter, cut the block diagnonally from the TOP LEFT CORNER to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER. i(THE DIAGNAL CUT WILL BE ON THE CORNERS THAT DO NOT HAVE THE 2 INCH OPENINGS. DO NOT MOVE THE FABRIC! yOU NOW HAVE 2 TRIANGLE PIECES. DO NOT MOVE THEM YET!

5. Now, flip the RIGHT SIDE Triangle that you just cut OVER the top of the LEFT TRIANGLE. Don't turn it or your block won't work. Just flip it so the 2 corners with the 2 inch OPENINGS are now one on top of each other. You now have 4 layers of fabric.

6. Even up the corners and edges then with your ruler. Cut a 2 inch strip off from the LEFT SIDE of the triangle BUT DO NOT MOVE ANY OF THE PIECES, yet.

7. Now, Cut a 2 inch strip ofF the BOTTOM of the Triangle. Now you can move the pieces and press all of them.

7 a.) You will have 2 squares each with a light and dark square. Sew these together to form a 4 patch with light and dark opposite each other in the square. This 4 patch will be the center of the block.

b.) You will have 4 Pointed pieces with a dark and a light side. These will form the pointy "bars" " that go out diagonally from the 4 patch to the corners.

c.)You will have 2 small triangles - in my block one is pink, one is floral. These Triangle pieces will be sewn to the SIDE of each of the "Bars" You'll have a dark at one end and a light at the other end.

d.) On the 4 Patch you will sew the "Bar" pieces so the dark is against the light color in the 4 patch.

e.) Now you will sew the other 2 small light and dark triangles to the "Bar" piece same as you did in "C.)" above .

8. You now have 3 segments of your block. Sew the first segment with the small triangles to the center segment with the 4 Patch and then you will do the same with the last segment of your block.

9. You're done! It will take you about 10 minutes maximum per block once youve done the block. Look at the picture that I've attached and you will see how it goes together.

The other quilt is super EASY - It's called "Twist and Turn"
1. You will need a 6 1/2 inch background fabric (mine in the picture is blue) for each block
2. You will need 4 squares of focus fabric (my focus is white with red and blue stars) for each block
3. Instructions say to cut rectangles ANY SIZE YOU WANT THEM- THAT WILL BE YOUR CREATIVITY.
When I made mine, I used a 3 1/2 inch x 3 " rectangle and folded it to make Triangles. Put the triangles on the corners of each of your background fabric and top stitch in place.
4. That's it, you have a block. This one takes about 5 minutes to make. Check out the attached picture.[ATTACH=CONFIG]364362[/ATTACH]

That is really a cute block Can I demo it at one of my next guild meetings? I bet the ladies would really like that one a lot

I finished my sister's quilt top... but for some reason I can't post pictures right now! It keeps saying that there was a failure uploading the picture. I've posted pics before but today it just isn't cooperating.
