Once in a while I come across a kit with precut pieces. Those quilts are generally much more expensive, so I haven't tried one- I would worry that if a mistake is made I'd be screwed. With yardage generally if an error is made you have some extra to use.

I picked up an old "UFO" block-of-the-month from a yard sale awhile ago. A couple of the blocks had been made, but about 8 of them hadn't. It was a pre-cut project, and I really loved how quickly it went together without having to cut the pieces myself. I never finished the quilt after finishing the blocks, so I sent the blocks onto someone else to finish. I really enjoyed the pre-cuts though and would definitely do it again.

Joanns has a precut quilt kit right now. Each block is $7.99 and the setting kit is $34.99. I've done 2 before (not this one.) One was missing a single square so I had to find replacement fabric on eBay. The second one was just fine.
