Quilt labels

I didn't label my quilts in the beginning but now I do...I purchased some decorative labels which I fuse on and then handstitch to secure. I use a permanent fine marker for my message. I have a new embrodiery module (still in the box) and will play with it after summer is over...and I hope to do as Lynnie, embroider my labels.

For special labels I purchase embroidered labels from one of our members, sewnsewer2. She makes fabulous labels that are inexpensive. For run of the mill labels I use June Taylor's fabric sheets that are made to be used in ink jet printers.

I used to make special labels for every quilt. Now I use a purchased fabric label for most of the quilts saying, Made with love by my name and my town. If it's a really special quilt, I will make a label.

I make mine using some fabric I bought many years ago. I use this for labels only. I did not want a stark white so I have this mild print. I use a fabric pen and hand write the information. My labels are 6 x 9 before sewing. I sometimes put a lot of information on them. They may not be pretty but they do the job.
I need to get better at labeling. I always stitch my initials and the date in my cross-stitch but rarely do on quilts. Thanks for the reminder.

I really like putting a label on my quilts. For special gifts I have embroidered ones made and I put the recipients name and a little saying, poem or bible verse
if I don't feel like putting a label on I at least sew in the month and the year on the binding or the bottom block.
