I need some help. My pups breeder sent me a box of show ribbons. I said that I would make a quilt out of them. Any good idea's? She sent me 1600 ribbons I think now I could make a dozen with this amount.
The ribbons are 2"x8.5" like "jelly roll"pieces.
Should I sew them onto a say muslin fabric so they had a backing and would work like a regular fabric?
Need some Idea's where to start. Patterns, thread, all help needed.
Thanks kjym Kathy

If you do a Google search and check images, you will see several quilts made of show ribbons.

That sounds really neat. The link looks good too. I wanted to add that my mother in law has an old quilt made out of funeral ribbon that they tie the flowers with. It's a string quilt or strip quilt, sorry I can never remember. It's very unique looking.

What you need is a really large design wall so that you can play with them. I've seen some ribbon quilts that are beautiful others that weren't. I did go onto the link that was posted and there are some of both on there.

You were my 'sample' to try to get oriented on this site. I read some of your old messages...(felt like a sneak)...and saw where you were talking about dog-prize ribbons....
Have you thought of using that two sided sticky stuff (It may be called Wonder Under, or something like that).
I am pretty new at quilting...my daughter taught me about the sticky stuff. I used it to applique hearts on fabric for a quilt I'm working on. It gave them a lot of stability...and I doubt the ribbons are real stable...like if you wash them.
You have probably solved the problem by now...it was just something I though of.

Thank You didn't think of that. i use steam a seam alot for app. and it is like wonder under.
At the moment my DH has me out in the yard helping UGH so to say the least I haven't gotten anything done.
Guess I better head out and see what I can do. But my pet peave is he doesn't help me.
I ask him to rethread my serger the other night and he said that it will go on his list. at the bottom. under all the yard work and cleaning out the carport etc. This is all before it rains. So after helping him cooking etc I'm to tired to do what I want to do.
I put paint color samples on the wall and he said that it will be there for 3 years. just might be if I never have time to get it done because of helping his list get done.
Sorry off the subject but I guess I'm tired and cranky.
Thanks again kjym Kathy
