Quilt trimming
Do you save the fabric that you cut off around the quilt when you square up? I trimmed my scallops and had quite a bit of extra fabric and batt with stitching on it. I picked the stitching out and added the scraps to my fabric scrap bin. The batt I added to my batt scrap box. I didn’t want a bunch of awkward pieces hanging around my sewing room but I didn’t want to throw them out either. Do you just pitch them?

I save mine. Some of these pieces can be a pretty good size and I use them for previewing stitches or thread, etc. Have also used some in other quilts. I've used minky scraps for borders. If they are small, I try to through them away.

Since I quilt on a longarm I have 4" or more extra all around. Of course I save it! Often it's used for making binding strips, but it may go into another quilt. I also save batting, except for tiny strings.
