We have some amazing tiles here in Spain and some would make an awesome quilt, only they are a bit on the difficult side for me.
I know what you mean though about analysing patterns where ever you are.

Klue, thanks for that book about quilt patterns from Italian floors!
If they are all like the cover, it will be way way beyond my ability. But I sure would enjoy looking at them.

I am a miniaturist which most of you know so I am always looking for tiny print and get frustrated as the fabric market gets farther and farther away from tiny anything! Well I went to use the restroom in the Community Hall in Kalona and the floor had the greatest tiny design in it! I'm thinking why can't I find fabric with that design!!
I wish I could have used that design to make fabric!!
Then I went into a local Quilt Shop and the owner greeted me and I was telling her about it and she was then telling me about going into a restaurant and doing the same thing!
I am always telling people I see the world in geometrics! At least now I know I am sane not crazy!! Nice to know!!

the patterns in that book really aren't that difficult. i would say that if you're intermediate you can do those patterns.
i have the book but won't have time to quilt my own projects until after christmas but i've already set aside the fabric to do the 3 of the patterns in the book.
