I am considering buying online a Judy Niemeyer batik quilt kit at Quilting by the Bay in Panama City, FL.

    http://store.quiltingbythebay.com/st...3&Item_ID=3547

Has anyone had any experience with this shop? Are the fabrics good quality? Do the fabrics in the kit reflect the fabrics in the pattern?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I have never bought an online quilt kit.

Just wondering if you noticed that the kit is fabric only and the pattern is sold seperately.

I have bought two Niemeyer kits from them. I bought them at Paducah last year. They were exactly as Niemeyer did them in the pattern. IOW, she states what Hoffman 1895 she used and that's what I received. My fabrics were all name brand, Hoffmans and Kaufmans if I remember right. One was not what I considered top quality but it WAS exactly what was used in the display and I think you will always find that.

Where are you in IL? I do alot of Niemeyer maybe we can have a "Niemeyer Quilt In"

Yes the patterns are separate. It was pricey but saved me from running around trying to locate all those batiks.

I haven't ordered fabric, only patterns, but was pleased with their service.

Sorry I can't help with your question. Thanks though for the mention of the shop. We drive through that area a few times each summer and I will look forward to checking it out.

I had the opportunity to visit them last year. I just loved the shop! They are very serious about quilting and their shop is very well stocked with fabrics, patterns and lots of kits.

I hope to visit them again soon!

    :)

Thank you for your responses, I will not hesitate to order from Quilting by the Bay. I did notice that the pattern was sold separately.

I have never bought such an expensive kit, but my birthday is coming up and . . . well, you know. I bet I don't have to convince this group how much I NEED this kit, LOL!

seamstone, I live in the Chicago suburbs. I'm so glad to hear you were pleased with your kits.
