I'm a gadget junkie -- some have not worked out but some are my special "friends"
June Taylor Cut'n Shapes
stiletto
Karen Kay Buckley scissors
bobbin doughnut (2)
a small pair of curved tip scissors with a very sharp point and large holes (no brand on them)
omnigrid rulers, mats (love the folding mat for taking to class)
olfa rotary cutters (I love the very small one for ripping seams)
thin vinyl from Joanne's (I put it on the back of rulers and cut different size strips and wrap them around my thread spools to keep the thread on the spool)
clover seam ripper (for when the rotary cutter does not work)
blue painter's tape
glow tape
rotating mat
and oh so many more....

Natalie, thanks for posting the youtube video of the clapper... I don't have one but now I want one!

I am wondering... is the purple thang and a stiletto the same kinda thing or similarly used?

A purple thang has a curve at one end....for guiding fabrics along. The other end has a 1/4" measure, that is very handy and it is plastic as opposed to the metal that may poke a hole in your material. They are used similarly in some cases.

I found this: http://www.thebiglook.co/ Video shows how it works, no price, but it looks cumbersome to me. Thank goodness I found some sewing gadget I don't want to buy.

Some of my favorites: The Thang, Gypsy Cutting Gysmo, June Taylor Shape Cut Plus, LED LIGHTS for the throat of my sewing machine.

I have most of the essentials and some gadgets I thought I would use but don't.

on the PQ1500--does it get in the way when FMQ? or is it a help? I find that my eyes get tired much more quickly than they used to so I'm thinking that this gizmo might help when I want to do a lot of FMQ

I just bought the smaller one at a show. I already had the large one. I figure the small one is good for class.

Mine - stiletto, rotating mat, magnetic stork snipping scissors (gifted by a QB member in a block swap) and the binding clips that my friend Gagasmith gave me. tools - Deb Tuckers rulers.

I can't believe this...6 pages of "gadgets" and not one person mentioned the "gridlines" ruler system. I love love love mine. It was pricey but worth every penny. It does not slip and I don't have to crawl my hand up the ruler, just position and cut. Perfect cuts every time.

The other thing I love that was mentioned is the bloc loc ruler, don't do hst's without it.

I will be putting the big look and the clapper on my list now too. Thanks ladies!
