Default Quilting ideas

Here are two tops I am getting ready to quilt. Would appreciate feedback and ideas. On the Irish chain, I am thinking of quilting blue thread circles in the blue squares. I then am looking for ideas of what to quilt in the gray centers. I can use gray thread to not detract from the strong graphic design but don’t know what design would be best. All comments welcome. thank you!

Here is a Christmas quilt center. Will be putting on borders. Any ideas on quilting? I am thinking of white thread and an all over pattern since the fabric is so busy. I may quilt special motifs in the plain areas.

There is a pattern that looks like a cursive capital L. I have heard it called several things. It fits into irregular spaces, like diamonds and should work for this.

For the Irish chain, I would do the straight lines in the cross colors. Then I would find a design that is team themed for the open spaces. you can make a template of the team theme.

I agree with an all over design for the christmas quilt. For the Irish chain, maybe some kind of modified swirled feather wreath thing or a celtic knot (to stick with the theme!). but of course, I don't know how to do either of those, so maybe they wouldn't work..... :-/

Great tops! If you are planning circles in the blue squares, I would do a similar design in the gray big squares. There are a lot of circular wreath designs that would look nice. For the Christmas one maybe a large meander with holly leaves sprinkled in.

For your Irish Chain, have a look through the Challenge post, there are some good ideas for the quilting part. Scrappy Irish Chain Sew-Along

I'd probably go with continuous curves for the yellow and blue in the Irish Chain, with some type of wreath or Celtic knot in the gray. On the other one, either an all over design (something curvy since so many rectangles) or I'd do an outline of the narrower rectangles (about 1/4" inside the seam) and then do some FMQ in the larger rectangles which could be different with each rectangle and you'd still be able to "move" without breaking thread often.

Thank you all for your ideas. They have helped me figure out a quilting plan. Now if the quilting elves would come and help me.

I have no idea for quilting ideas and just wanted to let you know you have very nice tops. I especially love the Christmas one. I know you will get lots of great ideas from members on this board.
