I did not use to but every quilt gets one now - even if I make the quilt for fun...someday someone will want to know what the blocks are called and who made the quilt.... My dear hubby makes them off the computer - for someone special... and the ones just for fun are labeled with permant pen -- on a part that doesnot show through....

If you are looking for sewing and embroidery machine look at the Baby Loc . I love mine have had it 5 years and no problems. It was running about 5 hrs everyday until I bought another Quilter's Baby Loc, now it runs all the time. Never had a problem They are more expensive but it's like pay now or later and having a machine that's not working again. My friends have other brands and are always having problems.

I put a quilt label on everything I make. If it is a gift I just put " Presented to blank blank on their blank birthday or whatever. Some have poetry or bible verses etc. I try to make them personal. Always date it, my name and city where it was made.

Maybe I'm just cheap or lazy, but all I do is use a permanent fabric marker. In an inconspicuous (to the design) corner I write who it's to, that it's from me, and what the occassion was such as "Happy Birthday, 2011" or just the date and an "I love you!". No one has complained so far! LOL!

I always put a label on my quilts, or table runners. Even if the quilts are just for me/my DH or DD. I just want a label there to "prove" I did it and when. It's fun looking back and seeing how far I've come.
