Quilting in Lebanon (the country)

We had a lady that lived in Beirut, the capitol of Lebanon, for many years come to our guild as a guest. When asked about quilting there she said living conditions were hard and wages were not enough to support hobbies. She showed a few pillows she had embroidered using string colored with sharpies.
