Quiltmaker is my favorite. Quilters Newsletter second. I have stopped subscribing because my cousin in VA has quilted for years and sent me a stack of wonderful patterns. Then I also inherited the stash and books from a friend's granny.
In addition I have bought many many books etc. myself. I pick up the Quiltmaker at my LQS. I "fan" through it to see if it is my interest first. The LQS owner is a personal friend and she doesn't mind me doing this.

I am just down to 3 magazines. AQS- Quilters Newsletter & American Patchwork & Quilting. I really enjoy the articles in these magazines, and it is eye candy for new fabrics, machines, & notions. I don't get them for patterns because I always design my own. I have to agree though that there are way more adv. than seem necessary, but they pay for the magazines, and without them we would not be able to afford them.

We ought to start a swap on magazines....perhaps bundle a year's worth from me to one of you and you send me a bundled year's worth!
Magazines must be in good condition, non-smoking odors, name on them, honor system that they are clean and in good condition...you know, set up a few simple rules.

I love American Patchwork & Quilting.

~BHG American Patchwork & Quilting
~Fons & Porter is a good one
~Quick Quilts is a good one for simple fast pattern
~Quilt is a must have for me
~Just subscribed to Quiltmaker- ill let ya know how I like it after a few issues..
~Quilters World is awful with advertising- Way too many ads.. December 2010 issue had ads up until page 14 then it has patterns till page 28 then another 15 pages of ads..

I love my mags.. I like thumbing thru and looking at all the pretty fabrics and patterns.. Helps me be creative..

I am letting both of my subscriptions lapse because I have too many as it is. I have also found many ideas on here and on the web for free, and since I will never ever be able to make all the ones I already want to, there's no use in collecting more. Besides, my friend goes to the library and picks up issues for a dime each from the recycle table!

I don't subscribe. I just go to the magazine section when I go shopping. If I see patterns I like, I buy the magazine, tear out the pages I want and toss the rest. I then put the patterns I like in sheet protectors and then put them in my binder for future reference and use.

I don't purchase any anymore because of the advertising. Sometimes a wonderful friend passes hers on the me.
