Default Quilting Sue's Dress

I'm quilting a raw-edge applique Sunbonnet Sue quilt with wool batting. I've quilted along each edge of the raw-edge applique. The wool instructions recommend quilting a minimum of 4" apart. I didn't want to quilt in the dress, but the bottom is 5.5" from edge to edge. Do you think this will be a problem when the quilt is washed?

I am by no means an expert, but since you have already gone around the arm and the foot, if it was mine, I'd surmise that the spacing minimum had been met.

I agree with the others. Why? My definition and understanding is that 4 inches apart is a 4 inch square. It would seem to me that by quilting around her arm, you will still be within the 4 inch open square guideline.

If the Sues are raw edge appliqué, I recommend quilting inside her dress. Raw edge appliqué can fray along the edges and if that happens, the appliqué can lift.
