Perhaps you could suggest a minimum bid if it is to be auctioned, I have seen them go for too little. If you don't love the cause it is going for, yes, I would just write a check instead. I think some have no idea of the time and thought that goes into a quilt.

Probably cheaper to write a check but it is as much a social event to get exposure to their cause as strictly getting a check. The animal shelter I volunteer for needs the items to have for auctions..handmade is a positive draw.

I love the cause so just recently donated a quilt, pillowcases, and small decorative pillows. We will see how it goes.
