    Question Rag Quilt Patterns

I recently made a rag quilt using 8 inch squares. Can I make a rag quilt using a split rail pattern or a different pattern. Or is it too difficult.

of course you can. Instead of cutting squares, cut the shape you want. The construction is the same. You have the option of making each rail independently, then sewing them together, or sewing the rails for each block together, then adding the backing and middle. I did a double Irish chain raggy quilt. I constructed the blocks, then sewed them to the batting and backing. It worked beautifully.

Ditto what others have said. It's really fun to mix it up and try different things. Good luck!

Use ANY pieced block that suits you------------as long as you can make seams on the right side deep enough to clip. Basically anything you want as long as you have the patience to nip the seams.

Oh, my Fiskars rag nipper came yesterday, but I've not tried it yet.

And it never occurred to me to look right here! Thanks for the mental jog!

I see a rag Christmas tree in my future. I see a big rag star for my bed too!
