I'm blessed with a nice sun room where i have a 6 ft. table where I cut and sew. As you come in my front door you can't see my mess at all. tHIS ROOM IS SECTIONED OFF BY A FIREPLACE IN THE center and then wide door openings on each side of it.

I am now a widow with no children at home...just lonely me......so I took one of the bedrooms and turned it into my sewing/computer room. It is kinda crowded but works for me. What fabric I have is in plastic containers that fit under the bed in the spare bedroom. I had to move my table from the dining room area into the family area when I got the longarm quilting machine because that was the only place I had big enough to set it up in. But it all works for me pretty good except I do have to do my oil painting on the dining room table. I only have 3 of my 7 sewing machines in my sewing room. The other 4 machines are put away for right now. I have some real old treadle singer machines that are in the garage for now.

I am moving from a 3bd [2bd 1sewrm] into a 2bd so I'll be losing my Haven But the new bedroom is 19ft L x 9 1/2 ft W room[ I was thinking LongArm ]-and its got a 13x4 cedar lined closet Which is already full of stash So my options are-1- put a twin bed in the laundry room or-2- sleep on the couch I guess either will be OK as long as I can quilt I'll be happy besides sleep is over-rated -Pops says "Where theres a will theres a way"

I am fortunate to have a room for my sewing but I didn't start quilting until I had an empty nest. Just think of all the quilts I could have made if I started 20-25 years ago when my kids were small.

I have been there! I started quilting after my kids were all gone from home so I turned one of the bedrooms into my quilting space-one year and 2 granddaughters joined the empty nest. One got the quiling room and I moved my 3 machines into the dining room and my stash and UFO's where ever there was an empty spot. Now we are once again empty nesters/have moved and I have a quilting room again. Peace!
I never sewed in the bathrooms though, there was always someone in them.

Hi, I used to do it all on the dinning room table when the kids were younger but it was such a pain to tidy away as everyone has mentioned. Inow have a corner in our main bedroom which makes for a tight space but husband is understanding when I remind him he has the whole garage. I have my machine there on a drop leaf table so when I sew I still need to pull out the side of the table to make it usabel for sewing but that is much less work than before. I also have a tall shelf beside it which I store my fabric and bits on. I used to use suitcases under our bed to store some bits before I got my shelf. My kids are teenagers now and everyone knows that when they leave home they can come back but will share their room with a sewing machine as I will claim it, so they are prepared. Good luck
