I don't know how the Aussie $ compares to the U.S. $, but that seems like a huge amount! I realize they have to pay the person who is leading the workshop, and possibly pay for housing and meals for them, but wow! I sure couldn't do it.

I agree it is a rather high fee. I have taken 5 night retreats at a beautiful Lake Tahoe location with a published quilter/author for that price and it included your accommodations, all meals, snacks and classes. So unless these instructors are coming from far away and they have set fees/costs involved, I don't understand the pricing.

I would like to take part but at this price i could take 2 quilts to the quilter and have them finish. Why is it so expensive for a 2 day workshop where nothing is supply, which will have breaks for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, etc.. not many hours of quilting in between!! What do you think?
All I have to say is, I could buy an awful lot of fabric for $450. We can teach you what you want or need to know right here. If you feel you need to spend that money on lessons, you can send each of us a couple dollars to defray our expenses of sitting here advising you. LOL

With all the breaks for tea/lunch/tea, you would have maybe 1-1 1/2 hrs. with each instructor? That is only enough for a brief overview of their specialty, or a brief in depth session on one topic. Also, when you factor in time lost to settling down, finding your supplies, and focusing, you're losing 15-30 minutes right there. I think I would have preferred 2 days with 4 teachers, or even 2 teachers, where you get some quality time with the instructor.IMHO
I think I'd have to pass on it.

Ellie Seinkewicz (spelled wrong I'm sure..but she is the queen of applique and author, teacher) her four day seminar costs 1000.00 plus more for extras.
I'm doing ok in my quilting and only took one three hour class. There is so much information and help on the internet. If its a hardship I'd skip the classes and treat myself to a few fat quarters!

way to much for me I would stick to this board before I paid that seems like you should be paying only for the class you are taking not all of the teachers

I believe that they should limit the number of instructors; then they could lower the price and supply some of the emenities that should be available at such classes. The attendees should be able to learn from the instructors and with so many, there will be overload and no retaining.

Forget workshops that cost money when you have the internet and all the people on this board.
