My older machines (2 Singers) are wonderful for using those Refrigerator Business cards (magnetic), that I use for perfect 1/4" seams. Pop them on, pop them off... use for other seams too. Easy and accurate, no residue to worry about either. Can be used on older machines that are not electronic This is what is easiest for me.

Anybody know for sure they would be unsafe for modern machines? I'm not sure how powerful the magnet is and if it would do any harm attached to the throat plate.
