I'm a beginner quilter and I have a small mat which I can't imagine living without. I feel it is worth the investment as it will last a really long time. I started with a small one and as I get better and have more time I know I'll gather the larger mats as I go along.

I have the 12" one and I like it however one of the ladies I sew with has the round one and it looks great!!! Especially for the Marti Michelle templates. I'd love to have one of those but they're over $50!! Watch for sales and coupons.

Revolving cutting Mats
Hi Nolee
I have made one at home and save lots of money doing it. The photos are of one lazy susan the 16" black disc in diameter rotate we found it at the recycle shop the particle board I use a piece of particle board 3/4", a non slip mat and I had a old cutting mat that I cut to size to fit the board it measures 18" x 18" I found it big enough for what i need to do the I can remove the cutting mat if i want, the non slip green mat keeps it in place. I just wanted to share with you a home made rotating board.

I bought one as well from E bay here in the UK which was stated as 12"x12" which in truth it is except the grid is in centimetres.....real pain so hardly ever use it.
Just thought I would mention it to make sure if you are buying via the internet - make sure it is what you want.
