My Martelli is my favorite but you have to use the right type of blades in it--the Olfa type make it wobble--Fiskars will work. The reason the Martelli is my favorite is because I can control it easier and it doesn't tire my hand & shoulder out like my Olfa's do. I only have the 45mm version of the Martelli so I switch to the Olfa 60mm to square up quilts and cut batting. For long cutting sessions--you can't beat a properly maintained Martelli. For quick jobs--whichever one I find first in my mess will work--LOL!

katz--There is a lefty version of the Martelli. Red is for righties--black is for lefties. Which one did you try? Also, did it have the correct type blade in it? I actually cracked one of the Olfa blades in mine because of the wobble problem when using the wrong type.

Like lacelady, I love the Olfa that automatically retracts. Much safer and fits my hand well.

I have used nothing but Olfa since they first came out. I am sure there are other ones just as good, but my Olfa cutters have always served me well, and my feeling is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! :)

I have I think every brand, shape, color, and size of rotary cutters. I use them all, which ever one is laying closest to me when I need it. I get several every year in my Christmas stocking. When family knows you quilt they buy what they see me use. I guess they think I wear them out and need new ones every year. LOL.

I like both Olfa and Martelli. It takes a learning curve to use the Martelli but it works instead of you making it do the work. Pretty effortless to use. Olfa's have the 60mm blade and I like using a large cutter.
