I have two sets of vintage Monkey Wrench blocks that vary in size from 8 1/2" to 9 1/4". Should I trim all to 8 1/2" and risk chopping off points or should I just even them up a little, retaining all points and sew on a frame and then trim all blocks to the same size. These blocks were originally cut with scissors using cardboard templates and are just not square enough to proceed. Even though I have heavily starched them, some are still a little wonky but they are charming and special to me as they contain scraps from my childhood. Looking at them, I can see my 4-H blouse, mom`s apron and the curtains from the camper to name just a few. I plan to make two quilts, one for my sister and one to keep. As these quilts will always be special, I`d like to do the best that I can with them and I know these blocks need to end up the same size.

Thank-you for your advice. I thought that the frame idea would be the most accurate but I wanted to make sure. Now I just have to decide whether to use the same fabric and colour for each frame or use a variety. I'll probably end up trying a few different possibilities and making the one for my sister quite different from mine. I'll try to get a picture posted when I finish. I do appreciate the advice and tips from the quilters on this board.
