Self closing Olfa rotary cutters are the only ones I use. If someone else comes up with a self closing one, I might give it a try. Too many furry ones to risk them getting cut due to my forgetfulness.

I have always used an Olfa cutter but always have had a problem even with a new blade--it seems I don't apply enough pressure when cutting and always have a few straggly threads which moves the fabric when I cut them a second time. Now that my hands are going bad, I'm going to try another brand.

I love my ancient Olfa, the one I bought the year they came out. I have a newer one with a retractable blade and I use it too, but my favorite is that old Olfa, the first model.

If you go to the Martelli sight..they will send you a replacement for free! My spring broke and they sent me a new one.

I'm a fan of the "old-fashioned" Olfa cutter. I tried the Martelli cutter and didn't like it at all.

I have the self closing Olfa cutter just love it cause the blade seems to stay sharp a lot longer and is safer...:-)

I have the Olfa 45mm with the scissors-like grip. I like it better than the retractable blade type because when it's not in use, the blade automatically retracts. You have to do it manually with the other style. I have one made by Gingher (same size) that I don't like at all. I use the Gingher to cut paper. Also, I have one (45 mm again) with a pinking blade that I like for cutting the ends of fabric when I'm going to wash it. I get a lot less raveling that way.
